Eleven Tunisian olive oil packers will take part in the international food and beverage show “Gulfood,” due on February 13-17 in Dubai (UAE), with the participation of 60,000 visitors and over 2,500 local, regional and international exhibitors from over 185 countries, the Technical Centre for Packing and Packaging (PACKTEC) said on Friday.
This participation aims to boost Tunisian packaged olive oil exports to Dubai, which is “considered today the leading platform for Asia, the Middle East and Africa with a market of over 5.2 million inhabitants, 85% of whom are of foreign origin.” This participation is part of the packaged olive oil promotion campaign led by the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mines and conducted by Packtec. The promotional action seeks to consolidate the Tunisian olive oil visibility at the global level, develop its export to the Gulf countries and promote Tunisia as a producer and exporter of an excellent quality oil, Packtec pointed out.
A 195m2 generic stand will be exclusively dedicated to the promotion of the Tunisian packaged olive oil, with tasting sessions and a cooking show hosted by a Tunisian chef in a bid to promote the Tunisian gastronomy.
The Gulf countries represent a high potential market for the Tunisian olive oil exporting enterprises as they are recording an exponential growth in the consumption of food products, the same source indicated.
