Tunisia participates in G20 Foreign Affairs and Development Ministerial Meetings

Tunisia is participating in the G20 Foreign Affairs and Development Ministerial Meetings held on June 29-30 in Matera, Italy, as a guest and a friend of the G20 members.

Minister of Economy, Finance and Investment Support Ali Kooli and Minister of Foreign Affairs Othman Jerandi represent Tunisia at these meetings, which are part of the G20 summit chaired this year by Italy, according to a Ministry of Finance press release.

Ali Kooli will take part in a joint meeting of the G20 Foreign and Development Ministers to focus on food security, sustainable development and international trade.

A second session exclusively for development ministers will focus on the role of logistics in preparing for and responding to the COVID-19 pandemic and future health and humanitarian crises.

Kooli will also hold bilateral talks with his counterparts from the G20 countries as well as with senior officials from international financial institutions to discuss bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the economic and financial fields and ways of boosting it, especially in the difficult global context of the COVID-19 pandemic crisis.

Italy took over from Saudi Arabia last November as chair of the G20 and is currently presiding over the 16th session.

The G20 Summit will be held on October 30-31, 2021, in Rome and will focus on three main themes: People, planet and prosperity.
