Tunisia strives to implement strategic plan to promote digital health, says Imed Hammami

Tunisia strives to implement a strategic plan to promote digital health for the 2018/2020 and 2020/2025 periods, Health Minister Imed Hammemi said on Friday.

A strategic study on the modernisation of the digital health system so as to repair the health system in Tunisia was launched at the end of 2017, he told TAP on the fringes of Realites magazine’s 3rd International Digital Health Forum (February 8-10 in Hammamet).

Recommendations of this study will be implemented, he indicated, pointing out that the 2018/2020 period will be marked by the launch of rehabilitation programmes of digital systems in hospital facilities.

The goal is to finalise the digital medical file in September 2018 and to start developing the digital medical imaging system.

On this occasion, President of the Realites Forum Taieb Zahar, said that this forum, that gathers experts of different nationalities, aims to highlight the importance of the strategic role of digital health in modern health systems.

According to him, digital health can provide solutions to some issues such as access to health services in the regions, management of medical files and even drug distribution.
