Tunisia “strongly” condemns dangerous escalation in Al-Quds (Jhinaoui)

Tunisia strongly condemns the dangerous escalation of the Israeli occupying forces in the city of Al-Quds, said Saturday Foreign Minister khemaies Jhinaoui in a telephone conversation with his Jordanian counterpart Aymen al-Safdi.

“This escalation is a blatant violation of international treaties and the right of the Palestinian people to freely exercise their religion,” the Foreign Ministry said in a press release.

While denouncing this unjustified and inadmissible escalation of Israel, Tunisia warns of its serious consequences on the efforts made so far to revive the peace process and the future of the region as a whole.

Tunisia also calls on the international community to fully assume its responsibilities and urgently intervene to put an immediate end to these practices, to protect the Palestinian people and to preserve their rights.

Tunisia urges the international community to work towards the resumption of peace negotiations in the Middle East as soon as possible with a view to achieving a comprehensive and just settlement of the Palestinian cause in compliance with international resolutions.

The telephone conversation focused on the latest developments in the city of Al-Quds after the decision by the Israeli occupying forces to close the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the same source specified.
