Tunisia “strongly condemns” Monday’s terrorist attack in Sinai (MFA)

Tunisia has “strongly condemned Monday’s terrorist attack on a police convoy in northern Sinai, Egypt that killed and injured several policemen and civilians.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) expressed “Tunisia’s full solidarity with the brotherly Egyptian people in these painful circumstances as well as its deep condolences and compassion with the families of the victims”, wishing a speedy recovery to the wounded.

Tunisia has also reaffirmed its “support for the Egyptian government in its war on terrorists and extremists”, expressing confidence in Egypt’s victory over the enemies of life and freedom,” said the same source.

Tunisia also considered that the lack of coordination and solidarity between members of the international community in the face of extremism and terrorism “will only consolidate these scourges.” It called, for this purpose, to expedite putting in place mechanisms to eradicate them.

At least 18 people were killed on Monday in an attack on a police convoy in northern Sinai. The attack took place on the road between el-Arish and Qantara.
