Tunisia takes delivery of 500,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccine provided by France

Tunisia Friday received 500,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine provided by France to support the national effort to stem the spread of the virus.

The delivery ceremony was held at the Central Pharmacy seat and was chaired by President Kais Saied and attended by Minister of State for Tourism, French Nationals Abroad and Francophonie Jean Baptiste Lemoyne, a Presidency of Republic press release reads.

On this occasion, the Head of the State pointed out that these doses will be used as soon as possible and the medical equipment and supplies will be distributed to the recipients in all governorates, based on priorities and pure and transparent scientific standards.

The Presidency of the Republic “is not competing with anyone, but it undertakes to ensure healthcare for the patients in the best conditions,” Saied specified.

The Head of the State further thanked France’s President Emmanuel Macron for this solidarity gesture, reflected through a donation that includes vaccines, medical equipment and supplies and oxygen quantity, as part of an initiative that shows the prestigious relations between Tunisia and France and the diversity of the bilateral cooperation and partnership fields, the statement reads.

Saied also commended the support of numerous countries who have set up land, air and sea bridges so as to support Tunisia in this difficult health situation as a genuine gesture of their synergy and solidarity with Tunisia.

The Tunisian people will never forget the support of these brotherly and friendly countries, he indicated.

The President further reiterated the need to ensure the right to health and healthcare, pursuant to a new collective approach so as to fight this pandemic and all new diseases.
