Tunisia to take delivery of 1.5 million COVID-19 vaccine doses from China Tuesday

Tunisia will take delivery on Tuesday, of a new batch of COVID-19 vaccine doses as a donation from China, said Chinese ambassador to Tunisia Zhang Jianguo during his meeting Monday with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Othman Jerandi.

The donation, which includes 1.5 million COVID-19 vaccine doses, is part of support to Tunisia in its fight against the pandemic, according to a Foreign Ministry press release.

The Chinese ambassador indicated that Tunisia will also take delivery shortly, of a batch of respiratory assist and oxygen therapy devices.

Besides, he commended the level of cooperation between the two countries, expressing his country’s willingness to further foster them, especially in fields of mutual interest.

Othman Jerandi hailed for his part, the considerable support provided by China in combating the pandemic and the financing of development projects such as the Sfax University Hospital and the Diplomatic Academy.

Tunisia is endeavouring to encourage Chinese enterprises and investors to invest in Tunisia and to import Tunisian products in order to establish a trade balance between the two countries and create jobs, the minister underlined.
