Tunisia ranks 69th globally and 2nd in the Middle East and North Africa region, according to the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) 2017 Democracy Index published on Wednesday.

Scored on a scale of 0 to 10, countries were divided into four regime types: Full democracies (19 countries), flawed democracies (54), hybrid regimes (39) and authoritarian regimes(52).

Norway once again tops the Index global ranking in 2017 with 9.87 points whilst at the other end of the rankings North Korea, with a total score of 1.08.
