Tunisia wins four medals at ATHIOOC 2018

Tunisia won four medals at the 3rd edition of the Athena International Olive Oil Competition ATHIOOC 2018 (March 26-28).

The gold medal went to the Chetoui olive oil of the Mansour domaine Jebel label (Zaghouane governorate) in spite of a campaign conducted by several French news websites against the Tunisian olive oil that was officially denied by the Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries Ministry.

The Chetoui olive oil labeled la perle d’or (Bizerte governorate) was awarded the silver medal, the Chetoui olive oil labeled Olivette (northern governorates) and the Chemleli olive oil labeled Cillium (Kasserine governorate) both won the bronze medal.

The Athena International Olive Oil Competition was marked by the presence of some 359 participants from Tunisia, Spain, turkey, Greece, Italy, Portugal and other countries.

Tunisia intends to export 200,000 tonnes of olive oil during the 2017/2018 season, knowing that the government and the private sector have endeavoured in the past years to further improve the quality of the Tunisian olive oil and promote the sale of packaged olive oil.
