Tunisian Authority for Access to Information receives more than 50 complaints in a month

President of the Tunisian Authority for Access to Information Imed Hazgui said Sunday the authority has received more than 50 complaints in one month.

It has started the investigation process and will have to rule on most of them quickly, he added.

Chairing a regional meeting on the right of access to information on Sunday in Sfax, Imed Hazgui pointed out that the authority’s decisions are binding on all public bodies.

The right of access to information relates to information already published by the bodies concerned pertaining to services, transactions and authorisations for which they are responsible as well as to obtaining of information upon request by citizens.

Imed Hazgui called on the government to provide the body with material, logistical and human resources to enable it to meet the challenges and fulfill its mission to the best.
