Tunisian Customs earns revenue of 397.7 MD, in January 2018

Tunisian Customs made in January 2018 receipts in the order of 397.7 million dinars (MD) for the benefit of the State treasury, including a total of 392.3 MD from taxes, customs duties and 5.4 million from contraventions.

The management of the customs said in a statement, released Friday, that the officers at the customs border office at Tunis-Carthage airport seized, during the first month of 2018, foreign currencies worth more than 1 million dinars and goods worth 32 thousand dinars. In addition, they insured the recovery of nearly 465 thousand dinars under amicable settlements.

As for the customs border office at the port of La Goulette, it recorded 525 offenses, which allowed to seize a commodity worth 347 thousand dinars and the recovery of tickets for a value of 558.5 thousand of dinars.

Similarly, officers at the customs border office at the port of Rades removed 1,525 offenses and seized a commodity amounting to 535 thousand dinars, in addition to the recovery of penalties estimated at 446 thousand dinars.

For their part, the Customs Guard and Customs Investigations units seized goods of about 14.8 MD and 5.5 MD respectively.

The Customs Investigations Directorate handled 727 customs and foreign exchange transactions in the past year, with a value of seized items of about 1330 MD.
