Tunisian delegation to take part in Berlin Dialogue on Energy Transition on April 17-18, 2018

A Tunisian delegation composed of CEOs and senior energy sector officials, led by Energy Minister Khaled Gaddour, will take part in the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue (BETD) at the 4th Berlin Dialogue on Energy Transition to be held at the German Federal Office of Foreign Affairs on 17 and 18 April 2018.

This year, the Berlin Dialogue will bring together around 2,000 participants from 90 countries and will be marked by the presence of 30 ministers and secretaries of state, in addition to about 100 high-level lecturers.

For the past four years, Berlin has been receiving, each year, key international energy policy makers from the fields of economics, politics, industry, science and civil society as well as leading experts in the field of energy and the whole world to discuss a possible energy transition and ways to make it accessible to all.

An energy transition is, in fact, the transformation of conventional energies (coal, oil, gas) towards cleaner and renewable energies from various sources (solar, wind, biomass, geothermal, etc.) and also the integration of new technologies and innovative applications in the field of energy.

Moreover, the Tunisian government has decided to launch a new strategy to boost energy efficiency and reduce primary energy consumption by 20% in 2030 compared to the level of consumption for 2010 and to raise the share of renewable energies in the energy mix at 30%.

The Berlin Dialogue, an annual event, organised by the German Federal Government in collaboration with the German Renewable Energy Confederation (BEE), the German Association for Solar Energy (BSW-Solar), the German gency for Solar Energy (DENA) and the GIZ (Energy Week), also allows each year to inform on developments in the energy sector, innovative instruments and investment opportunities in this area.

Apart from the two days of the dialogue, participants will have the opportunity to discover the energy transition in Germany, through Energy Week, during which parallel events are on the agenda and will allow discussion of energy issues. energy transition, latest trends, multilateral agreements and promising business models in the energy

The global energy transition is now irreversible. Everywhere on the planet, new records of innovation are achieved and new investments in renewable energy and energy efficiency are observed each year. The forecasts differ only in the speed and manner of change for each country.
