Tunisian Federation of Airline Pilots organises training course for 28 African pilots, including Tunisians

The Tunisian Federation of Airline Pilots (French: FTPL) announced on Thursday in a statement that it organised a training course on aviation safety in collaboration with the University of Southern California Viterbi (USA) on January 23-26, 2017, under the aegis of the International Federation of Air Line Pilots’ Associations (IFALPA).

Facilitated by two U.S. instructors specialised in safety management systems, the training brought together twenty-eight participants from Senegal, Algeria, Kenya, Turkey and Tunisia.

Concerning the Tunisian side, pilots from various airlines (Tunisair, Tunisair Express and Nouvelair) but also officials from the Civil Aviation and Airports Authority (OACA) took part in this session in order to harmonise their knowledge of security in civil aviation.

The twenty-eight candidates obtained an Aviation Security Certificate enabling them to contribute with their airlines, organisations or authorities to national air safety plans.

Finally, three Tunisair flight commanders (InAs Hamza, Hichem Bachraoui and Karim Elloumi) who had taken the entire course to become experts in the safety and security of civil aviation were awarded their diploma (Aviation Safety and Security Diploma) by the Director of the Engineering-Aviation Programme at the University of Southern California, Viterbi.

“There is no doubt that the recognition of this expertise will help accompany the development of air safety in Tunisia,” said the Federation.
