Tunisian-Italian CELAVIE project kicked off in Sfax

The kick-off for the start of the CELAVIE project, Tunisian-Italian cooperation in the field of aquaculture and agriculture, was given, Monday, during a working session by video conference between the Tunisian and Italian partners of the project.

Financed by the European Union to the amount of 900 thousand euros, the project concerns Tabarni and Palermo (Sicily – Italy) and the governorates of Kairouan and Sfax (Tunisia) and will last 30 months.

The project intends to contribute to the agriculture and aquaculture sector, in particular in the inland areas of Sicily and Tunisia, by offering a boost to process and product innovation through the technology of aquaponics.

The project concerns, thus, the implementation of a system: “a Vital Cell”. This system makes it possible to combine the production of aquatic plants and animals in a unique eco-sustainable and guaranteed cycle.
