Tunisian Post signs partnership agreement with Visa International

The Tunisian Post (PT), on Thursday, signed, a strategic partnership agreement with VISA International, to develop innovative electronic banking services.


The agreement signed by CEO of the Tunisian Post Sami Mekki and Leila Sehran, Senior Vice President and Group Country Manager of North Africa, Levant and Pakistan region at VISA International, aims at promoting digital payment, financial inclusion and de-cashing in Tunisia, says the PT.


This partnership allows the Tunisian Post, as a principal member of Visa, to offer its customers innovative and secure payment methods.


In addition, a development plan is being put in place to consolidate the efforts made by the Tunisian Post and its partner VISA International to promote access to digital payments based on digitisation in order to accelerate the adoption of new payment practices.


Speaking at the signing ceremony of the partnership agreement, the CEO of the Tunisian Post, stressed that “the Tunisian Post is committed to a strategy to promote digital payment and financial and social inclusion. This strategy is premised upon the development of digital and innovative financial services based on new technology and business models adapted to different populations.


He also stressed that “La Poste Tunisienne has set very ambitious objectives, namely universal access to digital financial services through its mobile payment solutions “D17” and “myPoste”.


For her part, Leila Serhan said: ” to develop the electronic money business with our partners, VISA believes in the importance of a fruitful bilateral cooperation through strategic public-private partnerships that play a key role in the inclusion of citizens within the formal financial system and the generalisation of electronic means of payment to achieve a Cashless World, for the benefit of citizens, governments and the economy in general.”


“The cooperation with the Tunisian Post, through this agreement that we have signed today, is a new step in the achievement of this objective,” she concluded.
