Tunisia’s Commitment to Financial Stability and Economic Growth Highlighted by Prime Minister

Tunis: Prime Minister Sarra Zaafrani Zenzri announced that Tunisia has successfully honored its external commitments and maintained its financial balance, contributing to overall financial and economic stability by 2025. Speaking during a joint plenary session of the Assembly of People's Representatives (ARP) and the National Council of Regions and Districts (CNRD), Zenzri presented the government's 2026 state budget and economic plan.

According to Agence Tunis Afrique Presse, the Prime Minister emphasized the progress made in implementing key structural reforms across economic, social, and financial sectors, despite global economic challenges. This progress has fostered investor confidence and enhanced Tunisia's reputation as a favorable investment destination.

Zenzri noted that these achievements have positively influenced Tunisia's sovereign credit rating for 2025, as recognized by international rating agencies, thereby improving the nation's access to international financial markets. She highlighted the government's priorities, including price control and safeguarding consumers' purchasing power.

Efforts are ongoing to regulate prices, curb inflation, stabilize prices for essential commodities, and manage production input costs. The Prime Minister acknowledged the high prices impacting consumers but assured that the government is actively working to dismantle speculation networks and monopolies through increased oversight.

The government is committed to ensuring a steady supply of raw materials, rebuilding reserves, and organizing distribution channels more effectively to manage inflation. Supporting national production remains a strategic focus, with priority given to the domestic market and efficient stock management.

Zenzri highlighted the anticipated benefits from improved agricultural output and declining global raw material prices, which are expected to alleviate price pressures. She concluded by reiterating the State's determination to adopt a new approach to distribution channels that benefits both farmers and consumers, aiming to curtail speculation and monopolies, and align with citizens' purchasing power.
