Tunisia’s participation in AU-EU Summit reflects its desire to enhance its presence in Africa (Jhinaoui)

The participation of the Head of State in the 5th Africa Union-EU Summit reflects Tunisia’s desire to move more towards Africa in view of the opportunities of investment and co-operation that abounds in this continent, Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui told TAP on the sidelines of the AU-EU Summit.

He pointed out that the presence of Tunisian personalities in such meetings as well as the visits of the Prime Minister and many ministers to African countries are part of enhancing the prospection of new opportunities of co-operation with the African countries whose ties with Tunisia are historical.

The minister said there are currently 56 Tunisian companies operating in various fields such as services and infrastructure and spoke of the African leaders’ consideration for Tunisia not only for the success of its democratic transition but also for its expertise and the competence of its human resources.

He announced that he had signed on Tuesday in Abidjan an agreement on German aid to Tunisia worth $ 465 million, of which $ 300 million allocated to the state budget and intended for investment and administrative reform.
