TUNIS, Tunisia, – Tunisia’s trade deficit reduced to some 1.5 billion U.S. dollars, in the first quarter of this year, thanks to a remarkable increase in export, the National Institute of Statistics (INS) of Tunisia, said, Friday.

Data show the north African country’s exports grew 35.2 percent from a year ago, to some 4.3 billion dollars.

The INS mainly attributed this to an increase in the export of crude oil, as well as, agri-food products, such as olive oil and dates.

During the same period of time, Tunisia’s imports were up 21.3 percent, year on year, according to the INS.
