Mobile network operator Tunisie Télécom Wednesday announced the launch of “Race Ichmilni,” a competition for Tunisian promoters of project ideas and entrepreneurs.
Race Ichmilni is open to people aged 18 to 35 as part of individual or team participation (no more than five people), Tunisie Télécom said.
Participants need to have an idea or a project (in the prototype phase or in the start-up phase or a platform operating for less than 2 years).
Social and economic issues are areas of focus of such ideas or projects which have to address challenges related to digital inclusion in regions and meet at least one of the Sustainable Development Goals.
This competition, launched with social entrepreneurship organisation Enactus Tunisia under the theme of “Digital Inclusion in Regions,” is designed to help participants develop or implement innovative and digital projects.
The ultimate purpose is to address major connectivity challenges facing regions across Tunisia, Tunisie Telecom added.
Ideas proposed, to be incubated and/or accelerated, will have as a watch word a positive economic, social and environmental impact.
Following a scan of only 10 projects in both categories, a project presentation will be held with attendance of an expert jury and business managers. The latter will pick 5 candidates from each category to attend a two-month Boot camp in a bid to improve ideas or consolidate projects.
The third and final stage will consist of a competition that will bring together five ideas and projects in each category. Selected candidates will make a-7 minute pitch/ presentation. Only one champion will be picked in each category.
