The National Digital Certification Agency- TunTrust, on Wednesday, announced that its application to feature Mozilla’s Certificate Authorities list, filed in October 2019, has been approved.
Mozilla’s CA Certificate Programme governs the inclusion of root certificates in Network Security Services (NSS), a set of open-source libraries designed to support cross-platform development of security-enabled client and server applications.
The approval of TunTrust into Mozilla’s CA List has been a great challenge that required a significant investment in material, financial and human resources, the agency said in a statement.
The requirements for compliance with international standards in terms of security and electronic certification have been met in order to satisfy the pre-requisites of excellence imposed by Mozilla.
TunTrust is audited annually to maintain its compliance with the Web Trust for CA and Web Trust BR SSL certification authority standards obtained since 2019, as well as its compliance with the ISO 27001 information security management standard obtained since 2018.
TunTrust affirms its position as a key player in the digital trust environment, essential to the digital transformation and the establishment of the digital economy in Tunisia.
It is the first government authority in Africa and the Middle East to feature Mozilla’s list.
