Two Libyans arrested and Kalashnikov seized in buffer zone near Borj el Khadra (Defence)

(TAP) A military patrol deployed in the buffer zone of Tiaret (Borj el Khadra / Tataouine governorate) fired, Friday afternoon, warning shots to force the driver of a 4X4 vehicle, coming from the Libyan territory, to stop.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Defence, the two people in the vehicle, two Libyans, held a Kalashnikov-type machine gun and four magazines containing 144 7.62-caliber bullets.

The two individuals claimed to belong to the Nalut Border Guard Corps and mistakenly entered Tunisian territory as they conducted a round near the border, the same source added.

After coordination with the Military Court of Sfax, it was decided to hand over the two individuals to the security units. The vehicle and the weapon were seized.
