Sunyani: Professor Elvis Asare-Bediako, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) at Sunyani, has been honoured with the 'Africa Role Model in Public Service Leadership' award. The award, given by the Young Professionals and Youth Coalition (YPYC) and sponsored by MTN Pulse, recognizes Africa's most distinguished role models and transformational leaders in the corporate world, who have excelled as transformational leaders and role models, impacting society and inspiring change.
According to Ghana News Agency, the award ceremony was held at the KNUST School of Law, where Dr. Andy Osei Okrah, President of YPYC, emphasized that this year's awardees reflected the coalition's vision of nurturing exemplary leadership. Dr. Okrah noted that the recipients are transformational leaders who have inspired and empowered many young people to pursue their dreams and contribute meaningfully to nation-building.
The award was instituted by YPYC in 2009 to recognize exemplary leaders who serve as role models for young leaders in Ghana and Africa. Other individuals honoured at the event included Akyamfour Asafo Boakye Agyemang Bonsu, Chairman of the University Council, KNUST; Ms. Abena Osei-Poku, CEO of Ecobank Ghana Limited; Dr. Michael Kwame Obeng, a Ghanaian plastic surgeon based in the USA; and Mr. Patrick Boamah, Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central.
Also recognized were Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarfo Sarpong, an accomplished entrepreneur; Professor Christian Agyare, Provost of the College of Health Sciences; Mr. Stan Dogbe, Deputy Chief of Staff, Office of the President; and Mr. Philip Nana Kwame Brobbey, CEO of Phibro GP. The rest were Dr. Christian Kwasi Agyeman, CEO of Taabea Herbal; Wode Maya, a popular YouTuber; Dr. Frank Amoakohene, Ashanti Regional Minister; Mr. John Dumelo, Deputy Minister of Food and Agriculture; Dr. Kofi Abban, CEO of Rig World; Ms. Elorm Goh, CEO of Agrisolve Ltd.; and Prophet Dr. Agyemang Prempeh, General Overseer of the Ultimate Charismatic Center.
