UGTT committted to developing Carthage Document 2

The Tunisian General Labour Union (UGTT) is committed to national dialogue and to the development of a second Carthage Document so as to set the priorities and review the line-up of the future government, UGTT Secretary-General Nourredine Tabboubi said on Saturday.

These priorities must be set next Wednesday and the next governmental team will be discussed thereafter, he told reporters on the fringes of the opening of UGTT’s regional conference in Kasserine.

He further indicated that the union will continue to defend interior regions including the martyrs’ capital Kasserine that has faced social discrimination and marginalisation for decades.

As regards the secondary education crisis, Tabboubi indicated that efforts to find the necessary solutions to save the school year and preserve the teachers’ rights are ongoing.

The solution is in the hands of the ministry, he pointed out.

He also said he will not abandon the construction workers’ issue and adequate solutions will be found to solve their situation.

The conference further provided an opportunity for Tabboubi to condemn Wednesday’s strikes on Syria by Washington, Paris and London.
