“The Tunisian General Labour Union (French: UGTT) is not above or against accountability,” Secretary-General Noureddine Taboubi said,” but it has its own internal and external control structures to which it is answerable.” “The UGTT is committed to its activism keen as it is to play its social and national role as well as to its founding principles,” Tabboubi Monday told reporters before the opening of a national administrative committee meeting in Kerkennah. The agenda of the meeting includes several issues, mainly the situation in the country, the evaluation of protests staged by the UGTT in regions and in the capital to meet social demands and the degree of the government’s responsiveness to endeavours to establish serious and transparent dialogue so as to implement the signed agreements.
