Works of the 25th Congress of the Tunisian General Labour Union (French: UGTT) continued Thursday in Sfax with attendance of 585 conventioneers out of a total of 606 registered participants, said Deputy Secretary General in charge of Communication at the regional labour union Yassine Trigui.
Over thirty participants are taking part in the public debate which started Wednesday, Trigui said. Regional and sector-based issues are on the agenda.
Motion drafting committees also undertook their task. This includes the vote counting committee, the general motion committee, the professional motion committee, the internal motion committee and the Arab-Zionist conflict committee
The evening session of the inaugural day was dedicated to the financial and activity reports of the previous term after the election of Youssef Aouadni as president of the congress as welll as two deputies and two rapporteurs.
Proceedings of the third and last day will focus on answering communications and adopting the general and financial reports and the motions of the congress. Voting will start later.
Thiry-sevent candidates are seeking seats on the executive bureau (15 seats) and a further 11 are contesting seats on the national rules of procedure committee (5), while 14 are running for the membership of the national committee for financial control (5).
