A 30-year-old man, identified as Mowa Mowa, died on Saturday after the vehicle he was traveling in collided head-on with another vehicle at Cowboy compound in Katima Mulilo in the Zambezi Region.
According to a crime report issued by the Namibian Police Force on Sunday, the accident occurred around 18h20 on the B8 road, when a sedan attempted to overtake a truck and collided with another sedan in the process. Mowa, who was the driver of the vehicle that was overtaking, died on the spot.
In a similar incident, a 26-year-old man was arrested on Friday for allegedly driving while under the influence of liquor or drugs at Outjo in the Kunene Region.
The police stated that the suspect was apprehended on a public road at service station at about 20h55 while driving a sedan with a Windhoek registration.
The suspect has been detained the Outjo police holding cells as investigations on the matter continue, the police said.
In a separate incident, the body of a 34-year-old man, identified as Paulus Megameno, was on Friday discovered lying in a pool of blood in the Kilimanjaro area of Windhoek.
The police stated that the deceased was found around 22h30, with a stab wound in his neck.
No arrest has been made in connection with the death and the deceased’s next of kin have been informed of his death.
Police investigations continue.
