Kyiv: Ukraine announced that at least 14 individuals were injured following an overnight Russian drone strike in the northeastern Sumy region. The attack, which took place in the city of Okhtyrka, resulted in several injuries, including a family with wounded children aged 5 months, 4 years, and 6 years, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who shared the information on the US social media platform X.

According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy also reported damage from a glide bomb strike that hit five apartment buildings in Kostiantynivka, located in the eastern Donetsk region. Rescue operations are ongoing in the city, with at least three people still trapped under the debris. Additional strikes targeted a gas distribution station in the Odesa region, while shelling was reported in the Chernihiv, Kharkiv, and Poltava regions. The Ukrainian president stated that over 60 drones and a ballistic missile were utilized in the overnight attacks.

Zelenskyy emphasized the need for increased pressure on Moscow, advocating for the imposition of new sanctions and tariffs until diplomatic solutions prove effective. He also stressed the importance of strong security guarantees to achieve a reliable and lasting peace. Ukraine’s air force announced that air defenses successfully intercepted 62 out of 93 drones, in addition to shooting down one of two Iskander-M ballistic missiles launched by Russia.

Earlier statements from Odesa Governor Oleh Kiper on Telegram highlighted damage to infrastructure and production facilities in Izmail, a city near Ukraine’s border with Romania, due to a Russian drone attack. Russian authorities have not yet commented on the strikes.

These developments occur amid ongoing diplomatic efforts by US President Donald Trump to mediate a resolution to the nearly three-and-a-half-year-long Russia-Ukraine conflict.
