Tema: Officials from GoLOCAL, a Ukrainian non-governmental organization, recently visited Tema Port to discuss using the facility as a logistics hub for grain importation from Eastern Europe, aimed at supporting sustainable projects in sub-Saharan Africa. According to Ghana News Agency, the delegation was led by Mr. Ivan Lukachuk, the Ukrainian Head of Diplomatic Missions in Ghana, accompanied by their Ghanaian partners. The group met with Mrs. Sandra Opoku, the Director of Tema Port, to discuss potential collaboration. Mr. Lukachuk highlighted the developmental parallels between Ghana and Ukraine and expressed interest in leveraging existing partnerships with USA and German entities already operating in Ghana for bilateral projects. Mrs. Opoku responded positively to the initiative, stipulating that any operations must comply with national laws and security protocols. She suggested that GoLOCAL consider setting up operations within the Free Zone Enclave near the port, which would benefit from its strategic location. This proposal aligns with the port's regulations and could facilitate smoother logistics for GoLOCAL's grain importation project.
