University of Ghana Pensioners Association Visits Aburi Botanical Garden

Aburi: The University of Ghana Pensioners Association (UGPA) Legon, recently visited the Aburi Botanical Garden to acquaint themselves with the various plants grown in the area. About sixty members, aged between 60 and 92, participated in the visit.

According to Ghana News Agency, the members learned that plants similar to those found at the Aburi Botanical Garden are also grown at the University of Ghana’s Botanical Garden on the Legon Campus, supervised by the University’s Botany Department. During the visit, the Seguah Africa Initiative, a Non-Governmental Organization led by Uriah Karikari, held a session on July 4, 2025, at the garden. The session focused on setting up WhatsApp Two-Step Verification for the pensioners.

The session was practical, and by its conclusion, most participants had successfully activated this important security feature on their devices. This initiative helped protect them from scammers and improved their confidence in using technology safely, emphasizing the NGO’s commitment to building digital literacy and trust.

In addition to the educational session, the Seguah Africa Initiative, located on the University Campus, sponsored the visit by providing snacks and lunch for the pensioners.
