Upper House, Senate of Côte d’Ivoire Ink Cooperation Agreement

This cooperation agreement, initialed by the Speaker of the House of Advisors, Naama Mayara, and the Speaker of the Senate of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, Jeannot Ahoussou-Kouadio, is part of strengthening cooperation relations between the two countries in areas of common interest, said Sunday a statement of the upper house.

This agreement also seeks to encourage the exchange of experiences in legal matters and legislative procedure, control, evaluation of public policies, parliamentary communication and any other issue within their mutual competence, especially in the field of territorial organization, decentralized cooperation and the diaspora, the statement noted.

This partnership may take different forms of technical cooperation including exchanges between the bodies of the two institutions, exchange of documents and legislative experiences and coordination and consultation within the various parliamentary bodies at regional and international levels on issues of common interest, according to the same source.

Signed on the sidelines of the 11th Congress of the Association of Senates, Shoora and Equivalent Councils of Africa and the Arab World (ASSECAA) and the Parliamentary Dialogue Forum of Senates and Equivalent Councils of Africa, the Arab world, Latin America and the Caribbean, this agreement also provides for exchange of visits and technical assistance, the statement added.

The two sides will also support the development of parliamentary relations through parliamentary friendship groups, whose role is essential in the monitoring of bilateral relations, according to the same source.
