During this meeting, the two sides welcomes the excellent relations of cooperation and partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Turkey, under the leadership of the two Heads of State, His Majesty King Mohammed VI and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Upper House said in a statement.
The meeting was also an opportunity to highlight the importance of parliamentary cooperation in consolidating bilateral relations through the exchange of experiences, visits and good parliamentary practices, according to the same source.
In this regard, Mr. Mayara highlighted the prerogatives and the diversified composition of the Upper House, reinforced by the representativeness of employers and the role that this component can play in the development of effective economic diplomacy.
He called for the operationalisation of the “Moroccan-Turkish Parliamentary Forum” initiative as a framework for permanent dialogue, a space for joint action, and a mechanism for strengthening bilateral relations in the face of new security, economic and climate challenges.
Regarding the issue of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom, the Speaker praised Turkey’s unwavering stance and its permanent support for Morocco’s efforts to achieve a lasting solution to the artificial conflict over the Moroccan Sahara.
For his part, Mr. Dogan underlined the historical depth of the ties binding the two countries and the two peoples, welcoming the level of progress that the Kingdom is experiencing under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI.
The Turkish diplomat called in this regard for the establishment of a partnership that matches the historic relations between the two countries, in the various economic, parliamentary and cultural areas, emphasizing the importance of coordination and bilateral dialogue on issues of common interest.
Regarding the Moroccan Sahara issue, Mr. Dogan voiced his country’s support for the efforts of Morocco and the United Nations to achieve a final settlement of this conflict.
