US Pledges to Defend NATO After Russian European Airspace Violations

New york: The United States on Monday confirmed its commitment to defend NATO territories following repeated Russian airspace violations over European NATO members. US Ambassador Mike Waltz emphasized the United States’ unwavering support during an emergency UN Security Council meeting, stating that the US and its allies will protect every inch of NATO territory from such intrusions.

According to Ghana News Agency, the US urged Russia to cease its dangerous behavior and seek de-escalation. Ambassador Waltz highlighted the efforts of US President Donald Trump in attempting to end the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, calling for direct negotiations between the two nations to halt the war.

The situation escalated after Estonia reported that three Russian combat jets had penetrated its airspace for a duration of 12 minutes, an event that Russia has denied. Further complicating matters, a significant number of Russian drones entered Polish airspace during a Russian air attack on Ukraine. Poland, alongside its NATO allies, successfully shot down some of these drones, which were later found to be unarmed.

In addition to Estonia and Poland, Romania recorded a Russian drone entering its airspace. All three countries are members of NATO, emphasizing the alliance’s collective security concerns amid these violations.
