UTICA President proposes establishment of new social security system in private sector

President of the Tunisian Confederation of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts (UTICA) Samir Majoul proposed, Wednesday, to set up a new social security system in the private sector that will allow the National Social Security Fund (French : CNSS) to restore its financial balance from 2025.

Speaking at a national symposium on major reforms held in Tunis, Majoul stressed that this measure is part of the reform of social funds allowing to expand the base of social affiliates namely through the creation of new jobs and migration from the informal sector to the formal sector.

He also suggested reducing the management cost of the CNSS by 10 million dinars a year from 2018.

The UTICA President also emphasised the importance of the parametric reforms that should be undertaken, citing, in this respect, the increase in the retirement age and the unemployment rate indicator of basic salary and the adoption of a new indicator that takes into account growth rate, inflation and productivity.
