Value of reported private agricultural investment down 3.4% at end of March 2018

The value of investments reported to the services of the Agricultural Investment Promotion Agency (APIA) fell by 3.4% from 415.7 million dinars (MD) at end March 2017 to 401.7 MD during the same period of 2018, according to data published Friday by the Ministry of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries.

The department also reported the rise in the value of investments approved by 6.7% from 144 MD to 153.7 MD over the same period of 2018.

These investments will generate 1,777 fixed jobs, including 96 job positions for higher education graduates.

Investments by development and agricultural development companies have risen to 12.3MD against 3.8 MD during the same period of the previous year, according to the same source.

Four investment intentions under Tunisian-Italian and Tunisian-Spanish partnership valued at 9.3MD have been approved, in addition to three others approved as part of activities of grain collection and storage services worth of 5.6 MD.

These approved investments will receive bonuses worth 49.4 MD which represents 23.1% of the projects’ financing structure.
