Volta Region: The Volta Region House of Chiefs has expressed profound shock at the passing of Justice Nasiru Sulemana Gbadegbe, a former Supreme Court Judge, who died at the age of 74.
According to Ghana News Agency, a statement signed by Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, President of the House, noted that several members were familiar with the late Justice. "We hereby offer our sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Justice Gbadegbe and pray for the repose of his soul," the statement read.
Retired Justice Gbadegbe passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2025, after a brief illness. His judicial career was marked by significant service, having joined the Supreme Court in 2009 and served until December 8, 2020, upon reaching the retirement age of 70. Prior to his appointment to the Supreme Court, he was a Justice of Appeal from 1999 to 2009, and before that, he served as a High Court judge from 1989 to 1999.
Justice Gbadegbe was part of the panel that adjudicated Ghana's 2012/2013 election petition, highlighting his crucial role in the country's judicial history.
