Trade with Egypt in 2022 amounted to TND 1165 million, Minister of Trade and Export Development Kalthoum Ben Rejeb said, which does not reflect the distinguished political relations and historical ties binding the two countries.
There is need to boost partnership and increase trade, she said as she met Thursday with Ambassador of Egypt in Tunis Iheb Fehmi.
The Egyptian diplomat tabled a series of proposals, mainly the organisation of a business forum in Tunisia to give impetus to trade and open up new horizons for cooperation, in addition to stimulating the transport and logistics sector.
The two officials discussed ways to scale-up economic relations and implement the recommendations issued at the latest meeting of the High Joint Commission.
They also highlighted the importance of convening shortly the Joint Commission on Trade to debate means to further ease the flow of goods between Tunisia and Egypt.
