Wage bill and debt interest repayment take up more than 2/3 of State expenditure

The wage bill and funding expenditures dedicated to the repayment of interest on the debt account for more than 2/3 of the country’s spending, at the end of July 2021, according to the document of execution of the state budget, published by the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Investment Support on Saturday.

Salaries, which amount to about 11.7 billion dinars, represent 56.7% of total state expenditure and the repayment of interest on the debt (2.4 billion dinars), 11.5% of public expenditure the rest of expenditure is divided between intervention (19%), investment (8.8%) and management (3.4%).

As for compensation expenses, they went down by 19% to 1.6 billion dinars during the first seven months of 2021, compared to the same period of 2020.

These expenditures are directed, essentially, to the subsidy of commodities (65%). The compensation of fuel and transport represent, respectively 18.7% and 16.3% of the total budget allocated to the subsidy.
