Water reserves in Tunisian dams fall to 667 million cubic metres

Water reserves in Tunisian dams dropped 38.3% to reach 667.3 million cubic metres until October 10 against 962.9 million cubic metres during the same period last year.

Average reserves for the last three years was 1.80 billion cubic metres, said the National Observatory of Agriculture (French: ONAGRI) in its October 10 newsletter.

Dams in the north have the lion’s share with a volume of 98.3% against 9% and 1.7% for those in the midland and the Cap Bon region, respectively.

El Mouli dam posted a fill rate of 94.7%, followed by Sidi ElBarrak (60.9%) and Barbara (50.6%).

Rainfall in 2021 dropped drastically compared to 2020, reaching 92% in the southeast, 90% in the southwest, 77% in the central east regions, 65% in central-west regions, 62% in the northwest and 46% in the northeast.
