Ways to further boost cooperation between Tunisia and Qatar, discussed

Prime Minister Hichem Mechichi on Sunday had a talk in Doha, Qatar, with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani.
Mechichi laid emphasis during the meeting, on the importance of the close brotherly relations binding the two countries and the need to further foster them in all fields, calling for endeavouring to increase the volume of Qatari investments in Tunisia and diversify their fields, a Prime Ministry press release reads.
The Qatari official affirmed for his part, Qatar’s ongoing support for Tunisia to help it overcome the economic difficulties it is facing due, in particular, to the adverse impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
He further commended Tunisia’s success in numerous sectors, citing in particular the vocational training, expressing Qatar’s willingness to further attract Tunisian competences, notably in the tourism, healthcare, engineering and IT fields, especially as the country is preparing to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The meeting was attended by Tunisia’s Secretary General of the Governmnet Walid Dhahbi, Minister of Economy, Finance and Investment Promotion Ali Kooli, Minister to the Prime Minister in charge of Relations with the House of People’s Representatives (HPR) Sami Saidi and Tunisia’s ambassador to Qatar.
The Qatari delegation that took part in the meeting included Minister of Commerce and Industry and Acting Minister of Finance Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Soltan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, Qatar’s Ambassador to Tunisia Saad ben Nacer Al-Hamidi, Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Investment Authority Mansour bin Ibrahim Al-Mahmoud and Qatari Diar Group CEO Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah.
