“We belong neither to political Islam nor to radicalism; we are democratic Muslims, part and parcel of Tunisian society” (Ghannouchi)

Ennahdha is a strong movement. It is not an iron party. It is just a democratic movement, Ennahdha Movement President Rached Ghannouchi affirmed.

We belong neither to political Islam nor to radicalism. We are democratic Muslims and an integral part of the Tunisian society, he said on Tuesday in an interview with private TV channel Nessma.

Tunisia, who had previously excluded Islamists, has become today a model and an exception that rejects exclusion and violence, abides by the law and refuses foreign diktats, he stressed.

He further denied that his party is receiving funds from the State of Qatar.

While dismissing these accusations, he pointed out that his party submits its financial accounts to the Court of Auditors.

This swapping of accusations between political parties can poison and even corrupt political life, he noted.
