Wenchi: The Wenchi Traditional Council in the Bono Region has announced the demise of Nana Atoa Seramangyedua III, the Paramount Queen Mother of the Wenchi Traditional Area. According to the Council, the queen mother passed away on Friday, June 13, 2025, after a brief illness.
According to Ghana News Agency, she was 95 years old at the time of her passing. Addressing a news conference in Wenchi, Nana Owusu Ameyaw Ababio, the Abakomahene (sub-chief) of the traditional council, highlighted that the late queen mother was enstooled on January 7, 1977, and had reigned for 48 years. In her private life, she was known as Abena Nsia Boatemaa and was the sixth child of her late parents.
Nana Ababio, who also serves as the Abusuapanin (family head) of the Ahenfie Yefiri Royal Family, directed everyone in the traditional area to don black or red attire. He also mentioned that the date for the late queen mother’s one-week observance would be announced soon.
