Sekondi-takoradi: The Western Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) recently hosted a mid-year religious Thanksgiving Service at its Headquarters' forecourt in Fijai, within the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis.
According to Ghana News Agency, the event also featured a send-off ceremony for some retired officers and the installation of a new Chaplain for the Command. The service, themed 'Be Imitators of God' (Ephesians 5:1-2), drew attendees from various security services, including the Ghana Police, Prisons, and Ghana Air Force, along with retired Fire Officers, family, and friends.
The ceremony included a sermon, a prayer session, and a formal handover between outgoing Chaplain, Divisional Officer III Reverend Emma Riverson, and the incoming Chaplain, Assistant Divisional Officer I Rev. Father Andzi Quainoo. Assistant Chief Fire Officer II David Asah Darko, the Western Regional Fire Commander, underscored the importance of fire prevention and urged personnel to positively impact their communities. He also tasked the incoming Regional Chaplain with upholding the office's reputation and serving with diligence and integrity.
