Wide international drug trafficking network broken up (Interior Ministry)

A wide international network specialised in drug trafficking was broken up on Sunday night by the National Guard Anti-Drug Central Brigade, the Interior Ministry said on Monday.

Three Tunisian nationals, two among them wanted by the police, a binational Tunisian and another one with dual nationality of a Maghreb and European countries, were arrested. The later is charged with smuggling drugs in Tunisia.

Another person holding the nationality of a Maghreb county involved in this network is wanted by the police.

The network operated in Tunis and Bizerte governorates.

A 1.3kg of cocaine worth about 520 thousand dinars, 10 thousand dinars and Euros 2,700 thousand were seized in a house in the capital.

An electronic scale used to weight drugs was found and seized in a second house in the Tunis northern suburb.
