Wlitey: The Central Planning Committee (CPC) of this year's Avenor Tutudoza Festival has selected Wlitey, a community near Akatsi in the Volta Region, to launch the sixth edition of the festival celebration. The main celebrations are scheduled for November 2025 and will showcase the rich tradition and culture of the Avenor people.
According to Ghana News Agency, Torgbui Tali Gafatsi III, a member of the Avenor Traditional Council and CPC Chairman, announced this selection after a Committee meeting aimed at organizing a successful launch. The event will be held on Thursday, September 25 at the Wlitey School Park. He noted that the launch, traditionally held in Akatsi, will now rotate annually among various towns and communities to promote inclusivity and unity within Avenor.
Torgbui Gafatsi outlined a range of activities planned for this year's event, including a Students Durbar, Mama Nutifafa Avenor, pilgrimage to Datsutagba, health walk, football gala, musical concert, and clean-up exercise. He emphasized that the festival launch will unite sons, daughters, and dignitaries in showcasing the programme of activities while also serving as a fundraising opportunity for the celebrations.
Avenor Tutudoza is celebrated by the Chiefs and People of Avenor and is held under the auspices of the Avenor Traditional Council, led by its President, Togbe Dorglo Anumah VI, the Paramount Chief of the Avenor Traditional Area. The Traditional Council has also announced a 14-day traditional ban on funerals and other mass gatherings in Avenor land from Monday, November 17 to Sunday, November 30, 2025.
