The National Union of Tunisian Women (UNFT) expressed satisfaction at the appointment of a number of women in Najla Boudenr’s goverrnment to run ministries of sovereignty and address financial, economic and legal issues which represent a major concern to the public opinion.
It, however, considered that women’s presence in the new government fails to meet the principle of required parity, as stipulated by the Tunisian Constitution, reads a statement released by the UNFT after the announcement of the new government composition which included 9 women.
The UNFT expressed hope to see more women in key positions, namely in public institutions, regional administrations and diplomatic posts, the same source said.
