Workers’ remittances up 5.6% on May 20 (BCT)

Workers’ remittances posted a 5.6% rise to nearly TND 3 billion on May 20, compared to the same period last year, said the Central Bank of Tunisia (BCT). Likewise, tourism receipts rose by 36.6% from TND 0.9 million on the same date to TND 1.5 billion at present. External debt servicing fell by 12.9% to TND 3 billion. Net foreign exchange reserves also dropped to TND 21.7 billion (i.e. 93 days of import) on May 26, from TND 24.6 billion (129 days of import) in May 2022. The overall financing volume was up by 35.6% to TND 15.1 billion, while the total of inter-bank transactions dropped by 37.7% to TND 1.5 billion on May 26, against TND 2 billion last year.
