Working session in Kasbah results in set of measures for print press

A working session, held at the Government Palace on Monday, resulted in a package of measures for the benefit of print press.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Social Affairs Mohamed Trabelsi and representatives of the Prime Ministry, the Ministry of Finance, the Tunisian Federation of Newspaper Managers and the General Information Union.

According to a statement by the Prime Ministry, an agreement will be signed Tuesday at the headquarters of the Ministry of Social Affairs on the rescheduling of debt of print press contracted with the National Social Security Fund (CNSS).

These measures also provide for the acceleration of the structuring process of SNIPE-La Presse.

In this regard, the Public Sector Re-organization and Re-structuring Committee will be convened to meet within 10 days to expedite the process of disbursing the funds allocated to this media institution as a cash credit, in accordance with the decisions of the inner Cabinet meeting held on January 13.

According to the same press release, the Dar Assabah has benefited from the same measures.

This meeting also envisaged the creation of a fund to support the print and electronic media and its inclusion in the budget law for 2018.

It also considered speeding up the process of passing the law on the creation of a public advertising establishment and distributing subscriptions and submitting it for adoption during the discussion of the 2018 budget law.

The working session also decided to publish a circular obliging ministries and public structures (central and regional) to acquire newspapers and publications in the framework of public subscriptions.

According to the statement, a meeting is scheduled next week to decide on the salary increase of print press employees.
