The Ministry of Women, Family and Seniors on Saturday called on children, families, citizens and society components to report all situations of children at risk, reaffirming its commitment to defend children rights, particularly with regard to the fight against child labour and their protection from various forms of economic exploitation.
In a press release issued on the occasion of the World Day against Child Labour, the Ministry stressed the need to report any abuse suffered by children by contacting the toll-free number 1899, or the regional offices of child protection delegates, or by calling 1809 to get psychological assistance provided to children and families.
It also indicated that it will endeavour to step up awareness-raising, training, listening and dialogue and to disseminate the culture of children rights.
The ministry is working with other departments and national organisations to implement the national plan to combat child labour by improving the legal framework and setting up mechanisms to combat child labour according to the press release.
Besides, the department warns against the socio-psychological and health impact of COVID-19 on children and families, notably the poor and underprivileged, indicating that in such situations, children are often exposed to economic exploitation.
