WRCC Reopens Investment and Business Centre to Boost Regional Development

Sekondi: The Western Regional Co-ordinating Council has reopened its Investment and Business Centre to attract investments, drive innovation, and create jobs to ensure the region benefits directly from its own resources. Speaking at the reopening of the Centre in Sekondi, Mr Joseph Nelson, the Western Regional Minister, stated that the core mission of the centre was to coordinate the region’s natural resources and ensure businesses flourished to the benefit of the people.

According to Ghana News Agency, Mr Nelson emphasized the need for the region to take control of its destiny and remarked on the potential progress awaiting the Western Region. He called for a collective effort to drive sustainable development and ensure the region receives the attention and benefits it deserves. The centre aims to serve as a catalyst for change, addressing long-standing challenges and unlocking opportunities for growth.

A 15-member board has been constituted to guide the centre’s success, comprising representatives from key sectors such as agriculture, tourism, the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre, the Free Zones Board, and traditional authorities. Nana Kobina Nketsia V, President of the Western Regional House of Chiefs, speaking on behalf of the board, pointed out the disparity between the region’s resource wealth and local prosperity. He expressed optimism that the reopening of the Centre would secure investor confidence and align local benefits with regional resources.
