Youssef Chahed checks progress of implementation of new electronic system at central pharmacy

Prime Minister Youssef Chahed made an unexpected visit Monday morning to Tunisia’s Central Pharmacy to check the progress of the implementation of the new electronic system for supplying hospitals with medicines and the procedures for signing tenders for the purchase of medicines.

In a statement to the media, Chahed said the visit had offered the occasion to follow up the implementation of the new electronic system for monitoring and tracking the distribution of medicines to hospitals, which, according to him, will improve the supply of medicines to health structures in Tunisia and fight against corruption as the stock of medicines will be viewed by all hospitals.

Besides, the Prime Minister pointed out that the central pharmacy is facing a number of challenges, including funding and supply which had been at heart of an inner Cabinet meeting.

“The Cabinet’s decisions will be implemented very soon,” he specified.
